Overview:
Dante Virtual Soundcard (DVS) lets your PC or Mac communicate with Dante audio devices on your network. Follow these steps to install:

  1. Download the latest DVS installer from the official Audinate download portal.
  2. Double-click the installer and follow the on-screen instructions.
  3. If you encounter an error such as “Aborting installation. The following folder is not available or is not writable”, ensure you have administrator rights and that your destination folder exists and is writable.
  4. When prompted, enter your license key (or follow “Redeem Token” instructions if you received a code).

Tip:
Make sure all other audio software is closed before installing to prevent driver conflicts.

2. Troubleshooting the “The licensing server sent a badly formed license file (518)” Error

Issue:
You receive error 518 when activating or registering your license.

Solution:

  • Check your internet connection and try again.
  • Make sure the system date and time on your computer are correct.
  • If the issue persists, close DVS and restart your machine.
  • If the error continues, contact Audinate support and provide your License ID and error message.

3. Fixing “Error 512 Audio Driver Failed” During Startup

Problem:
DVS gives “Error 512 Audio Driver Failed.”

Quick Fixes:

  1. Reboot your computer.
  2. If using Windows, ensure no other audio apps (including DAWs and conferencing tools) are using ASIO or WASAPI drivers before starting DVS.
  3. Uninstall and reinstall the Dante Virtual Soundcard if issues persist.

4. What to do if Your DVS License Disappears After a MacOS Update

Symptoms:
After updating macOS, you notice that your Dante Virtual Soundcard license appears missing.

Resolution Steps:

  • Make sure you’re running the latest version of DVS compatible with your OS (check for updates).
  • Log in to your Audinate account and use “Manage Licenses” to reactivate DVS.
